We are currently ringing the changes here at Optimum Flooring.....January is going to be a busy time as we shall be updating a lot of products including new internal doors, laminates and natural timber products. All new products will be uploaded to our website for your viewing. We are also very excited to introduce another vinyl brand Invictus who shall compliment our current range making sure we have every style and colour covered to let Optimum Flooring be your one stop shop. Karndean Heritage Hallway - Mayfair 01

We would like to introduce an install from the Karndean Heritage range which was completed by one of Optimum's sub contracted fitters to one of our customers in Tynemouth. With 18 decors to chose from all on display in our North Shields showroom.

All Heritage products are special order and made upon request as it is a non stock item, this is more of an advanced installations not recommended for our DIY enthusiasts. Leave the hard part to us for a site visit and fitting service taking away all the stress and leaving you feeling peace of mind.

Ultra durable product even in high traffic areas and also easy to maintain. You can even read our earlier blogs on aftercare and maintenance so you can educate yourself on the do's and dont's.

Looking after your BerryAlloc Laminate flooring

BerryAlloc Laminate is an easy-care, wear-resistant floor with a long lifespan and a hygienic hard surface. To protect your floor, we recommend the following actions :

• Place a suitable doormat at your entrance(s) to absorb dirt and/or moisture. Sand and dirt can have the effect of “sandpaper” and may cause premature wear and tear or scratches.

• Place felt pads under the legs of chairs and tables to avoid scratches.

• Equip other furniture and heavy objects with felt pads for safe moving.

• Clear plastic mats must be used under office chairs with wheels. BerryAlloc laminate floors are extremely easy to clean. In very little time and with a minimum of effort you can enjoy a clean and beautiful floor for many years.

Dry cleaning methods For daily cleaning, we recommend that you use a soft brush, vacuum cleaner or dry dust mop. Microfiber mops are ideal.

Wet cleaning methods When cleaning with water, a well wrung-out cloth (lightly damp) and lukewarm water are recommended. Avoid using too much water.

DONT'S :

• Never use steam cleaners on a BerryAlloc L aminate floor

• Never use highly concentrated soap solutions on the floor

• Do not use organic detergents, they will leave a thin film of grease on the surface, resulting in visible footprints. Only synthetic detergents are recommended.

• Do not wax, varnish or polish the floor

Correct cleaning of your vinyl flooring

Cleaning your new floor, aftercare and maintenance.

Vinyl Flooring

Lets start with our more popular type of flooring which is vinyl.........

Now everything is looking fantastic after the installation it is imperative that you stick to the manufacturers guidelines and listen to what we tell you!

Avoid steam cleaners, even though your floor is as close to waterproof as it can be it is the temperature that these steam cleaners produce that has the potential to cause issues as it can cause the adhesive to go back to it's original state and therefore cause the vinyl to move. Even with click systems it can cause the plank to misshape and have the potential to come out of it's locking system.

Also avoid cleaners with bleaching agents in as these can cause corrosion with regular use and affect the protective wear layer. We recommend using reputable brands such as Dr Schutz as these come with a kit consisting of a general floor cleaner for everyday use, a floor stripper to strip away stubborn dirt, adhesive and grime (once a year would suffice) and also a sealer recommended for use after the stripper so you can put a protective seal back on the floor. If you stick to with this advice and kit then nothing will go wrong.

These kits are available to purchase instore and are very cost affective as they last a long time. Any further cleaning or maintenance advice please feel free to ask our staff.

Our humble beginnings

Welcome to Optimum Flooring Solutions first Blog, and seeing as were coming up to our 2nd Anniversary we thought here would be a good place to show you how we went from shell to showroom.

We received our keys with great excitement on our new venture then the enormity on the task ahead was suddenly clear, so with all hands on deck and with the help from a few friends and family we started to build our dream.

Then COVID hit....................

So in March 2019 on the much anticipated grand opening things came to a halt, but after a few nervous months we were able to welcome our first customers through our doors and have been welcoming them ever since.
